Michaels Marketplace

Michaels, the largest arts and crafts retail chain in North America, launched its online marketplace in February 2023 to expand its product offerings and provide customers with a broader selection of creative supplies.

Who Can Sell on Michaels Marketplace

The Michaels Marketplace is open to third-party resellers, distributors, and brands looking to expand their reach by listing products on Michaels.com. They are seeking professional sellers who offer:

  • art supplies
  • frames
  • beads
  • yarn
  • party supplies
  • Christmas trees
  • classroom materials
  • and other similar mass-produced goods.

To join Michaels Marketplace, sellers must meet a few requirements:

  • High-volume resellers and distributors, typically with over $1M in annual revenue
  • Orders must be fulfilled from a U.S.-based warehouse or a third-party logistics provider
  • Applicants need to have a U.S. legal entity with the ability to complete a W9 form, a U.S. bank account, a U.S.-based fulfillment location, and an active EIN.
  • Both resellers (with the legal right to resell products) and brands selling their own products are eligible.

Difference Between Michaels Marketplace and MakerPlace by Michaels

Michaels offers two separate platforms for sellers: Michaels Marketplace and MakerPlace by Michaels. Our integration is meant just for the Marketplace.

  • Michaels Marketplace is designed for high-volume third-party resellers, distributors, and brands that sell mass-produced goods such as art supplies, yarn, frames, and classroom materials to sell on Michaels.com. It typically requires sellers to have over $1M in annual revenue, a U.S. legal entity, and the ability to fulfill orders from a warehouse or third-party logistics provider. Integration is supported through direct API connections and platforms like GeekSeller.
  • In contrast, MakerPlace by Michaels (michaels.com/makerplace) is tailored for individual creators and small businesses selling handmade products. It welcomes sellers of all sizes and experience levels who offer items like jewelry, home decor, art, and clothing. MakerPlace focuses on helping creators turn their passion into profit by providing tools to manage listings, classes, and how-to content, with direct shipping to customers.
