Recap of Walmart’s ‘Let’s Grow! 2024 Seller Summit’: New Features and Opportunities for Marketplace Sellers

Walmart held its annual “Let’s Grow! 2024 Walmart Marketplace Seller Summit” last week (Aug 26 – 28), where they unveiled new tools and features aimed at helping e-commerce merchants grow their businesses. The event focused on expanding categories and providing more fulfillment options to sellers, with a key emphasis on making the marketplace more accessible and competitive.

One of the most notable updates is the introduction of resale capabilities on Walmart Marketplace. Sellers can now offer used items across various categories, including luxury fashion, electronics, and collectibles. This builds on the success of the Walmart Restored storefront, which has been selling refurbished electronics and small appliances since 2022.

Walmart also introduced new logistics solutions through their Multi-Channel Fulfillment service, allowing merchants to use Walmart’s supply chain to fulfill orders from other e-commerce platforms. The service, which offers fast shipping at competitive rates, will launch on September 10th, just in time for the holiday season.

Additional updates include the Cross Border Fulfillment service, which helps sellers manage full-container shipments from Asia directly to Walmart’s fulfillment centers in the U.S., and the Open Carrier Network, offering special shipping rates for sellers using Walmart’s preferred carriers.

Walmart also launched several new features to help sellers succeed. These include Premium Beauty, which adds a curated selection of high-end beauty brands to Walmart Marketplace, and Walmart LocalFinds, a program that connects customers with local sellers for last-mile delivery.

The summit also highlighted Walmart’s continuous investment in its marketplace. The number of third-party listings has grown by 20% in the past fiscal year, and the platform has achieved more than 30% sales growth in each of the last four quarters. The revamped Global Seller Center will make cross-listing products across international markets easier for sellers, with free translations available.

GeekSeller congratulates Walmart on the successful event and looks forward to working closely with Walmart to help sellers grow and be a part of the Walmart ecosystem. These new capabilities and tools are sure to benefit merchants, making Walmart Marketplace an even stronger platform for e-commerce success.
