FTC Proposes Crackdown on Fake Online Reviews

The FTC has proposed new rules to tackle fake online reviews, which make up an estimated 30 to 40 percent of reviews. The rules, currently in the proposal stage and not yet law, aim to impose fines of up to $50,000 for each fake review, per consumer exposure. The regulations target fabricated experiences, non-existent reviewers, and undisclosed insider reviews. If approved, these rules could have a significant impact on combating deceptive online reviews and restoring trust in consumer feedback.

Low-Price FBA fees

Amazon has announced the end of its Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Small and Light program, set to be replaced by Low-Price FBA rates effective August 29, 2023. The move aims to simplify the selling process by introducing lower FBA rates for all items priced below $10, while maintaining the fast FBA delivery speeds that customers prefer. As part of this change, items priced below $10 that were enrolled in Small and Light will see a slight increase in cost per item, but will benefit from faster shipping. Meanwhile, low-priced items not previously enrolled will benefit from a rate decrease of about $0.77 per item.
